Wednesday decided to drive up to Cancun just to get out and about. Had lunch at Bubba Gump which is a US shrimp chain based on Forrest Gump. The meal was nice but Cancun is not somewhere I plan to go back to. Cooked dinner on my return and an early night.
Thursday morning started to pack and get ready to leave Mexico the next day. Breakfast on the beach and up to Puerto Morelos 45kms north of Playa del Carmen. I booked a another SNUBA tour which was good fun. We went out to a reef known as the wall and the water was warm and inviting.

Had a great Japanese meal on the way back to apartment after a quick shop down the main street, finished packing and went to bed ready to wake early to leave Playa del Carmen for Atlanta the next morning.
The weather forecast for every day was thunderstorms and showers EVERY day but there was not one drop of rain during the twelve days that I was there. I can strongly recommend Playa del Carmen for any beach/resort holiday with or without kids. There is an abundance of beach, swimming, activities, relaxation or whatever you want out of a sun/sand holiday. I hope to return some time soon.
Next morning left around 08:00 for Cancun airport. Returned the car and am kind of surprised they didn't use a magnifying glass to check the car they certainly looked at everything very closely before ticking off no damage.
Check in for the plane was VERY smooth despite the plane being 100% full. A short 2.5 hours to Atlanta followed by a three kilometre walk from the plane. I can often overestimate but there were constant signs about how far to go.
Luggage waiting and I ventured the train and a 600 metre walk ($2.50) versus the $40 cab fare. I reward myself with a late lunch at Hard Rock Café which has nice salads but not sure I will do the same in return as my flight leaves at 7:00am.
I unpack and head to the bridge where I see heaps of Aussies (Gill, Bloom, Nunn. Hans, DelMonte as well as others I know). I feel I won the jackpot as somebody said do I owe you money (for Cavendish Airfares) to which I said yes $2k and he replied a cheque tomorrow. I had sort of written it off when the tournament died to a nice bonus.
Tomorrow (Saturday) isn't too bad as it is registration and opening ceremony but my hard work will start on Sunday.
